Jadi Granted Japan Patent on Environmentally Friendly Natural Oil-based Toner Resin

In continuous efforts towards eco-friendly solutions, Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (Jadi), was recently granted patent no. 5303800 on Environmentally-Friendly Natural Oil-based Toner Resin from the Japan Patent Office.  This achievement comes two years following the US Patent № 7,968,647 B2 received that recognized the above technology of making green resin from bio-based sources which may include various vegetable oils such as palm oil.

With the high amounts of cartridges used worldwide and the growing demand for remanufactured or compatible cartridges, the demand for toner and pressure on green printing is increasing. Yet, the production of most conventional toners today is made with high dependence on petroleum-based components. Jadi’s propriety technology is not only eco-friendly, but is also a source of quality toner material. By incorporating plant oil derivatives to create a green toner, high volume printing can be pursued without compromise on quality or anyone’s individual responsibility towards                                                   the environment.

Jadi sets a high internal benchmark on quality, and the acceptance of this proprietary technology to Japan’s exacting standards is another validation of Jadi’s commitment towards the research and development of toners and resins, as well as of eco-friendly printing solutions.

Launch of JADI’s new Kapar facility producing ‘Palmotone®’, the world’s only palm oil - based Toner

On 29th March 2013, Jadi Imaging Group reached another milestone with the launch of a new production site at Lot 719, Jalan Kapar/KU6, Klang Industrial Area. Called Facility No.4, it covers 23,902 square meters and consists of 2 production lines that will extend the company’s products to include monochrome MPT (Melt Pulverized Toner) and Colour CPT (Chemically Produced Toner).

World’s first palm oil-based toner
The Kapar facility currently houses the only production line capable of manufacturing Palmotone® chemically-produced toner. Sales and interest has increased for the Palmotone toner, and it is a point of pride that the company’s worldwide orders for the bio-based CPT toner will come directly from the newly-minted Kapar factory. It is truly an achievement that is Made in Malaysia.

Green Toner Technology
Conventional toners are made of petroleum-derived resin. With the large amounts of printing worldwide, it is estimated that over 200,000 tons of toner are disposed annually from used cartridges’ waste toner and the deinking process of recycled paper. Palmotone introduces a green toner alternative for the environmentally-conscious consumer. Despite having an effective 10% bio-content, Palmotone delivers equivalent or better print performance than petroleum-based chemical toners. It achieves a better gloss level, comparable fixing and vivid colours – traits which high-performance end-users will surely value. In fact, the use of 1KG of Palmotone toner series generates 12-15% of sustainable CO2 through the natural process of photosynthesis, helping toner suppliers and end-users to reduce carbon footprints, decrease CO2 emissions, and do their part in making printing a greener activity.
