Jadi Granted US Patent for Environmentally Friendly Natural Oil-Based Toner Resin

Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (Jadi), a world-class independent toner manufacturer based in Malaysia, announces that it has obtained a new patent in the USA granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Patent № 7,968,647 B2 discloses technology of making environmentally friendly toner resin derived from bio-based sources which may include various vegetable oils such as palm oil, coconut oil, linseed oil, castor oil, soy oil and rapeseed oil, among others. The technology, developed by Jadi’s R&D team in collaboration with the University of Malaya, would drive positives changes in the toner and imaging industry by promoting greater use of green materials in toner which helps to reduce the industry’s dependence on non-renewable petrochemical-based toner resins.

Conventional toners used in today’s laser printers and photocopiers are manufactured using a melt mixing process. It is made by compounding the ingredients such as resins, pigments, magnetic iron oxides, waxes and charge control agents by melting and blending the ingredients to form a paste. The mixture is then cooled and pulverized into fine powder within a controlled particle size range, either by a mechanical mill or a jet mill. The toners produced via this method have been applied in various types of electrophotographic devices in recent years and has consequently, resulted in a higher demand for such toner resin. Therefore, seeing the existing toner resins are mostly made from petrochemicals which are derived from non-renewable sources, which are non-sustainable, the synthesis of toner resins with high content of natural materials is highly desirable.

This technology would enable Jadi to manufacture environmentally friendly hybrid toner resins that are incorporated with significant levels of palm oil-based derivative. Besides, reducing the dependence on non-renewable petrochemicals, the use of palm oil incorporated resin in toner production would help to alleviate Green House Gases Effect through lower net CO2 emission from incinerated waste toner. Jadi is now exploring various options for commercial production of its proprietary palm oil-based toner resin and plans to offer its palm oil-based toner products – Palmotone Melt Pulverized Toner (MPT) – by 2^nd half of next year. In addition, a similar patent on palm oil-based Chemically Prepared Toner (CPT) – Palmotone CPT – is currently under application.

Shah Alam, Malaysia - Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jadi Imaging Holdings Berhad, organized a charitable visit to Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPKKCTM) on 24th July 2010. The visit involved volunteers from Jadi comprising of staff, friends and families.

PPKKCTM is a non-profit home for the disabled and underprivileged in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. PPKKCTM was founded by the venerable late Mr. Manikumar A/L S. Kanan, a physically handicapped man with the vision of providing better environment for disabled children to live in and also to highlight their plight to give the children an equal opportunity in society. The centre houses children of all races from all over Peninsular Malaysia. Some of these children are diagnosed with various disabilities ranging from Fown Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Global Delay, Muscular Dystrophy, Dwarfism, Apeth Syndrome, Neunan Syndrome and Hyperactivity, among others. Besides that, the centre is also home to normal children from broken and abused families.

During the visit, Jadi's volunteers entertained the children with fun games, live musical performance and spectacular magic show. Visiting these children to see them smile and laugh makes this visit even more worthwhile than making mere financial contributions. Besides spending time at the centre to accompany the children, Jadi provided some stationery materials to the children and offered to recycle the centre's laser cartridges to help it save cost on printing supplies. The charitable visit will not be the last for Jadi as it seeks to be more pro-active in its effort to contribute towards the betterment of society.

JADI HP® NEW GENERATION TONER-1 (JLT-034) For HP LJ Pro P1102/ P1566/ P1606

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn Bhd, a world-class independent toner manufacturer, is proud to announce the release of HP New Generation Toner-1 or HP NGT-1 (JLT-034) for use in HP LJ Pro P1100/ P1102 (CE285A), P1560/ P1566/ P1600/ P1606 (CE278A) series printers. Jadi’s HP NGT-1 toner is also applicable in HP LJ P1005/ P1006 (CB435A), P1007/ P1008 (CC388A) and P1505/ M1522 MFP (CB436A).

The HP LJ P1102/ P1566/ P1606 printers were released by Hewlett Packard in May 2010. Designed for small and home office users, these printers are equipped with Instant-on Technology and industry’s first Auto-On/ Auto-Off Technology to help conserve energy and resources. Besides these eco-conscious features, the new printers have a base resolution of 600 dpi which can be enhanced up to 1200 dpi and they all come with HP FastRes 1200 Technology that delivers crisp text and professional-quality prints. For a normal A4 sized printing, the HP LJ P1102 has a print speed of 18ppm while the HP LJ P1566 and P1606 could print up to 22 ppm and 25 ppm, respectively.

Jadi’s HP NGT-1 toner (JLT-034) is designed to have good Image Density (ID) to produce bold and sharp text. Strong grayscale effect of this toner delivers excellent quality on multitone image printing. High transfer efficiency significantly reduces toner waste and notably improves page yield for a lower printing cost. Its good fusing properties is well suited for the stringent fusing mechanism of these new printers. The wide application of this toner which also covers the P1005/ P1006 and P1505 series would help to reduce SKUs and simplify inventory management.

New HP® CP5225 Compatible Color Laser Toner (JCLT-15)

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn Bhd, a world-class independent toner manufacturer, is proud to introduce its newly developed HP® CP5225 compatible color toner (JCLT-15) which is recommended for use in HP® CLJ Professional CP5225/ 5225n/ 5225dn.

This new color laser printer series is able to produce mono and color prints at speeds of up to 20 ppm for A4 size printing. It is also an affordable solution for A3 size printing with print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. The average page yield of OEM’s continuous composite printing is 7,300 copies for K cartridge and 7,000 copies for CMY cartridges.

Jadi’s JCLT-15 color toner is a polyester based toner which gives excellent print quality and durability. Some of the advantages of JCLT-15 include OEM-like color tone, excellent color vibrancy and matching for image prints and consistently high image density. Furthermore, this toner has been developed to remain robust and defect free till the end of its print life cycle.

New Improved JCLT-07 Color Laser Toner

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Jadi Imaging Technologies Sdn Bhd, a world-class independent toner manufacturer, announces the release of its new improved HP® 2600 (JCLT-07) conventional color toner which is compatible for use in HP® CLJ 1600/ 2600/ 2605, CM1015/ 1017 and Canon® LBP-5000/5100 printer series.

Like its predecessor, this new improved JCLT-07 toner is also a polyester based toner which is designed for greater performance, long-lasting print and excellent durability. However, through improvements on process and manufacturing technology, Jadi has been able to further enhance the image density (ID) and color tone of JCLT-07 toner to produce better print quality. This improved toner which exhibits higher ID and stronger color tone will replace the previous version.

Remanufacturing technique for this product remains crucial as it will determine the overall print quality and performance. For assistance on remanufacturing and test data, please contact your Jadi sales representative.
